The High Cup Nick Fell Race in 2024 took place on 24th February. The Race is organised by Morgan Donnelly in conjunction with the Village Hall. The Hall acts as a base and check-in. Post-race refreshments are provided by the Village Community and a number of villagers act as marshals and help manage the car-parking. Around 500 runners usually.

The event is already full with 250 participants. The race features steep and rough terrain, ridge running, and an interesting final descent. Parking is available at Coniston CE Primary School with a £5 ch.. The High Cup Nick Fell Race will take place in Dufton on Saturday 24 February 2024. You can run 15 kilometers.

High Cup Nick is a classic U-shaped valley high on the western flanks of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). A deep chasm on the Pennine fellside, this famous nick, a dramatic geological formation at the top of High Cup Gill is part of the well-known Whin Sill, and overlooks the best glaciated valley in Northern.

I've wanted to see High Cup Nick since seeing it on here and finally had the chance to go. We did an 11 mile loop from Dufton up to High Cup, over Dufton Fell and back down the old quarry road to the base of Dufton pike and back into the village. And a great bonus of seeing the wild Fell ponies on our walk. Fantastic that you were able to see.
